trying to cut down on electricity.

I'm running a 125 with 2 ac110s and a fx5 with a 250watt ebo jager.

I'm stocking 10 RBPs.

Would it be safe to remove the ac110's and just run the single fx5 loaded with bio media?

Any and all suggestions would be great.

THanks.

i would use the following setup.. fill the fx5 with all bio medio besides those big useless sponges that come with that filter.. and use 1 aquaclear with the sponge and some carbon.. thaat way your carbon will be easy to change.. the aquaclear spone is much finer then the sponges in the fx5 so they will trap most of the debris.. and the flowrate on the fx5 wont be hindered by the sponges getting clogged up.. hope that helps.. its not exactley what you were looking to do but its the best way using what you have IMO

i also have leds on my tank.. very low energy consumption and rather bright for such small lights.. they also make my fish look great.. the only problem is that alot of the new led lights are verryyy expensive.... another thing you can do is make sure your glass top is snugg.. the less evaporation that you have the smaller the heater you will need to heat the water.. just a couple of ideas for you..

is your heater on a lot of the time? i dont know, but it doesnt seem like the equipment your running would make a huge difference in your light bill. what about the rest of your house?

i know its a little offtopic, but when i switched to CFL bulbs it made a HUGE difference in my light bill

chistmas light's....they have um with LED's.

Ebay is where I got mine. Or directly from digikits.com. Careful though some vendors are using 4500 kelvin rated LEDs and IMO don't look so nice for fish. I am trying to get or stick with the pure white LEDs which I think are about 6500k or higher.

I also use the blues with the whites for a nice color balance, then the blues alone at night for moon light.

Oh and the LEDs on my 20" deep tank look great. On my 30" deep tank no go.. I would need 3 times as many light bars to do the same thing. I am now waiting on higher powered LED bars for my deeper tank.
