I have had a whitebubble like film growing on the glass of two of my tanks it comes off easily with the cleaning brush. I have never seen this before and cant seem to find anything about it. Does anyone know if it might be some type of algea? All my water stats are normal fish are happy. Just wondering what it is.

No I have added nothing, the tanks have been set up for a few months and no problems.

Kinda dumpfounded about it. Same fish I have had for over a year nothing new and no chemicals of anykind except for water conditioner at water change (have been using same brand for ever). Just all of a sudden white stuff all over the glass.

It sounds like a protein film, a mix of unprocess waste products and bacteria.

what size tank and filter... do you have any power heads/current?

here's an easy fix for you:

get an air pump and hook it up to an air stone.

give it a week and they'll be gone.

but you've got to keep up with the regular water changes.

it's most likely excess protein resulting from overfeeding.

Thanx for all the ideas the excess protein sounds like what it might be. Plan on a water change today and will cut feeding in half for a while and see what happens. I have a air stone in the 55gallon, but not in the 20gallon. Did notice the film is not as bad in the 55 as the 20 so will hook up an air stone in the 20 after waterchange today. Thank you again for your suggestions. Will let you know if anychanges. :)
