so at one point I had like 500 gallons of tanks in my house. within the last year I joined the navy and sold off all my tanks (and everything else I owned and now have to rebuy). now I did it thinking I was gonna get put on a ship. navy = ship right? no... not so much. they have me now in new hampshire. on land. so I have a house again and again the habbit is bitting at me. I need a tank but since im not going to be here permanently I don't wanna go to over board. nothing over 200 gals. so here lies my question. what size tank is the minimum for a pair of orange pikes? out of all the fish I've had my pair of pikes were indeed my favorite. I think that anouther pair could definitely hold off that biteing pain for fish... hopefully. thanks all.

no. id really like to stay with the orange. that's what I had before and really liked the personality. I just don't want them to be cramped. my buddy has a pike that although now its in a 200+ was cramped before and its got like two big crooks in him. the thing is ugly ass hell.id rather not end up with hunchback fish.

go for a 6 foot tank for a pair

Orange pike you mean Xingu I right good pike but there are more colorful ones with more personality but still not a bad pike if those are the ones you wan't

Talk to Rich at Infinate Aquatics....he has some Crenicichla sp. 'tapajos I'. Personally I think they are a MUCH more attractive pike! :) Just as awesome of a personality as well.

For a size for a pair, I had my xingu I pair in a 125gal with a adult jag and a pair of oscars...:)!! So go with 125gal at least! :) Glad you want to get back into them! They are GREAT!!

yes, by orange I mean Xingu I. You know what I mean. As far as the tapajos, how big are they and what are they gonna run cost wise? Im just fond of the orange because they were my first fish I ever really liked and mean as rattle snakes. they didn't let anything including plecos live in that tank. they would each grab one end and just yank untill the fish was dead. or really close. I had to eventually remove all except the bichor. they ignored him. although im not sure why. but im open to suggestions.

Well, Rich is selling his for $50 a pop. A good bit more expensive than xingu I, but they are MUCH more attractive. As adults, both male and female are a rocket red color. VERY attractive pikes! They don't get larger than 14" either generally. They normally aren't horribly aggressive though, so if you are looking for aggression, stick with xingu I.

Psshh, you don't need any more pikes!! LoL!!!! Glad you are able to get back in the game though!!!!!!! :D

Did you ever unload the acutes? They would be perfect for someone like Siesta. Not too large, less aggressive than most lugubris and stunningly gorgeous.
