woke up this morning about 5am looked at my tank and saw my bass with a smaller red severum lodged in his mouth. i thought to myself i was stupid for putting the sev in there knowing he was too small but i was gonna set up a 20 gal for them later today. anyway 5 hours later i realized the sevs fins are stuck open in the bass mouth preventing him from swallowing him or spitting him out. the bass seems to be gasping for air i tried removing the sev myself but its stuck pretty good. help needed asap

cut up the serum with some scissors inside the basses mouth, thats what i had to do. Try and snip the main fins that are lodged! Save that bass

im going try that now thanks

good luck! I used a wet towel to catch my fish. It provides grip and its not as rough on there slime coat. You should be fine as long as the bass doesnt freak out whe it out of water. If it settles down it will be easy. I also tried to keep my fish in the water as much as i could.

Its pretty gross but you have to cut up those spines. Just chop that sucka up

surgery was a success. sev removed. now the bass mouth is still wide open. he's swimming around as if there was a fish still lodged in it. what now

Maybe its mouth is locked open? I think there are ways to deal with this if its done quick enough.
