Unfortanitly, I came home today and saw that my TSN just got a broken premaxillae (nose). Its now curved downward,.. look like got a bit of a bent lip. Should I worry about it or what? He seem fine and swimming around. Still eating and such. I can see the open cut wound.

it will be bent for live
so you may whant to get a new one

raise the temp and add a little salt. Watch the wound to make sure an infection doesnt set in. I dont think you need to get a new one, it'll add some character. As long as its eating you should be fine.

yeah that usually happens when they get spooked or when they are hunting, they might go bump in decor or the tank glass and may break their nose, some have a curved one due to birth defects
if the wound doesn't get infected i think you needn't worry too much, as catfish are quite hardy it will surely get alright, but the bend might go away or not all depends on the measure of the injury it took
give it some time, they heal quite fast too

My TSN had a busted nose when I got him. A LFS owner got him in as a rescue and gave him to me, I worked for him one summer and we are pretty good friends. :)

He eats like a pig and seems normal, except for looking goofy. I have noticed that he is prone to banging up his bottom lip, probably from the way it hangs down.

I made a thread about mine when I got him as I wasn't sure whether he was deformed or injured. It turns out this is not a terribly uncommon problem, unfortunately.

good luck with him, I hope this doesnt make you want to get rid of him!

that looks like a nice pseudoplatystoma tigrinum
great pattern on hium and great work on your part for rescuing him

bent mouth gives them more character and it feels nice to have a fish you rescued and when you see its doing well despite of it being not normal or perfect

Thanks! My big Pangasius was a rescue from a 75 gallon, the two of them are going to force me to build a really big tank this summer!

There are a lot of them that are naturally deformed like that. I raised one to 29" before it mysteriously died along with my natural looking one that was 30". You'd be suprised how ferocious they can be even with a bent nose.
