I have a TSN that would only eat live feeder fish, I just tried some silversides and he actually ate some much to my surprise... I am wondering if these will be sufficient nutrition for him if thats all he eats... he doesn't touch any pellet foods, So can I just feed him these frozen siversides of will he still need the live fish sometimes? Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks~

Frozen silver sides > live.
If your fish is not on live food think of it as a blessing. Now you don't have to worry about infected feeders. The silver sides are much more nutritious than feeders unless you gut load them for like 2 months. If goldfish are fed then there is no way they are healthy to feed.

these silver slides are better then the live feeder as I3>fish said and can bring in nastys for your fish aswell and are very fatty foods and its not the right stuff for him and as long as you no this fish will get 5ft in length having live feeders is going to cost you a lot of a lot of breeding fish lol ! so silver slides or live foods

silver slides = cheap when bigger and all the time any way the cost what $6 for 2 pound worth in weight.

live food = ££££$$$$$$$$$$$$$$££££ to much money any way and then when hes at least 2ft he will be eating 50 a week thats $2-$4 a fish think about the money you save and the healthy the fish will be ;)

To add to that: They will actually rarely get over 4 feet in the wild. I would say in home aquaria 3 feet for a 20 year old specimen sounds about logical. The main time they grow is from around birth all the way to 20". After this, they slow growth to about an inch-two inches a year.

thanks guys!! thats a relief he woudnt eat anything other than feeders thats the only reason I was getting him the feeders and it was starting to cost me $20 a week thats why I tried the silversides thank God he likes them!! My pocketbook is very thankful besides that all the other fish were eating them too making it worse. btw I dont do goldfish they are called fatheads I believe...

you can also try market shrimp.. If you get the raw one, try to run it thru hot water so you won't get your water all cloudy.. I usually get pre-cock market shrimp.. very easy, just defrost and feed them. Its much cheaper then feeder and contain a lot of protein..

Try to get him eating pellets as well, they are ultra-convenient and loaded with vitamins and minerals. My 12" TSN eats Hikari sinking wafers and Massivore pellets, plus an occasional nightcrawler.

I think you mean pre-cooked! ;)

Just a thought, some of the silversides are good sized so you can poke a few pellets inside them for some extra nutrition.
