Hello! I just wanted to know how often should I feed my TSN. He's apprx 8 inches right now and every time I feed him he eates until his stomach is the size of a balloon. His diet is goldfish. Thanks
Goldfish are not a good staple food. I feed mine frozen prawns/pollock and mussels. I'm no expert only having had my TSN since christmas, but i give him ~ a prawn every 2 days, when his stomach goes flat again hes ready for another...
Some of the more experienced lads'll be along soon!
i agree gold fish arn't a good staple try feeding them by hand then try to introduce him to shrimp and worms and i feed my lima every time he belly is flat too. i'm sorry to say but i feed my pbass and lima feeder fish too but i QT them first
Give him some frozen krill and earthworms. I haven't found very many predators that will turn down a good nightcrawler. I would feed him atleast every other day unless you are trying to get him to grow fast.

he is big enuff now to be taught to eat other foods such as shrimp, pellets, and any other meaty foods such as beef heart, chicken heart, fish fillet ........
this might take a while, ie; to get him off live foods
but if you keep feeding live food then he won't accept anything other than live and then it would be a trouble trying to feed such a big fish
My TSN Catfish only eats pellets now and he lets me know when he is hungry because he rises up into his tank and swishes around when he sees me. I usually feed five pellets at a time for a few days and then wait to see what he does.
