Not all species of pseudoplatystoma do... Some get 24", others get 5'

As for species, looks like you have a P. punctifer.

i know that some don't get that big... i put 3-4' cause 99.9% of the tsns on the market are p. fastatums or p. tigrinums...also 95% are farmed and they are a hybrid between the two...i had one that looked similar to that one, it was a hybrid from an asian farm...

to give a proper sp. id on it we'd need to know the collection point, if infact it is wild caught...most likly it is a farmed fish from asia...if it is wc there are so many diff veriations to each sp. that it could still be a few diff sp.s...at 10" it is just starting to develop its pattern, so it would need to grow to like 20" to see a more adult permenent pattern...also if i remeber right p. punctifer is a rarer sp. of tsn so that also makes it hard for it to be it, but not imposible...must be larger to be sure...

Most of it's current characteristics are all you need to know to tell what it is, the fin shape, fin color, loc. of fins, and pattern most likely point to P. punctifer.
