I've asked this question before and got the answer I didn't weant to hear.....so probably wasting my time again but my lfs has some nice 3" TSN babies for a rediculously low price....I would grow out this fish in my various tanks to around 12" then put it in my 255 which is 84" X 26" x 27"tall is this possible for the life of the fish or will he DEFINTELY outgrow it. I plan to raise the fish on pellets and prawn absolutely no live feeders don't know if that would curtail growth a bit......maybe, hopefully....I have read on some sites that the max size in the aquarium of some of the TSN variants dosen't exceed 2 foot but then I have read some sites claiming 40" is common....guess it depends on the fish to a certain extent obviously......are females smaller than males ?

ok first off there is a TSN and then there is a TIG/LIMA. A true tsn will by know means no how ever survive in the tank you are talking about. Check my sig for more info on a better size tank and how fast they grow. A lima or a tigernous(spelling probly wrong) are the 2ft or less this is what you want. But read up on then as they need alot of water movement to keep happy.

Yeah! Save your money and buy a Merodonotus Tigrinus! They're waaaaay cooler looking anyway, IMO. 8P

The tsn outgrowing that 255 a quite a ways down the line. If you want him then go get him. IN the end you will know what you need to do if anything.

my tsn is in a 250g right now and is currently @ 14"
ive had it since it was abour 4"

ever since i aquired this fish, it has been super lazy and just hangs on in one place.
it doesnt seem to be utilizing the whole 250g but i have been told it would outgrow that fairly fast.

im currently in the market for a 400g setup.

id say...
if its at 3" now, you have a good amount of time until it will outgrow that tank. but just know that you will have to upgrade that tank in the future

this isn't suggesting it is good thing to keep one in a 250g but i have 3 in a 920g and they are the same age roughly 6 years but two are past 3ft and one is 20 inches all are fed the same and get the same amount of food as i hand feed, so i guess occasionally you get a slightly smaller one but yes it will outgrow your 250 even at 2ft.
