Hey guys i did a search and found some good info advice on pellet training. wanted to know if anyone had an update method on pellet training.

My TSN wont touch pellets I drop a few of them in the tank and he uses his whiskers and touches them and then back away. His tank mate, a jardini arowana will come down to the bottom and will chew them up for him and spit them out. What would you guys recommend I do in order to get the TSN to eat??

Also, do I clean the tank after the aro spits out the food?? it will build ammonia in the tank if I leave the food in there??

the TSN is a recent addition to my tank. i spoke to the store i purchased him from and they said he was eating feeder and pellets but they can say whatever they want. i purchased feeders just to make sure he was actually eating, which he does.

The best thing that worked for my tsn was starving. he gave in pretty quick. within 1-2 weeks. dont give feeders or annything else and drop pellets, massivore, or whatever u want him to eat. its starving is not as bad with tsn as with pbass. which my pbass still doesnt eat pellets. lol

I agree, i switched my tsn, rtc, and my hybrid to pellets when the store gave them feeders and my tsn was the last to accept the pellets, he just wouldn't eat for the longest time and eventually he gave in and ate the pellets and the tilapia fillets... he just starved himself until he gave in.. and then he ate them just fine..

thanks guys. i have been feeding sinking pellets from hikari for 3 days and now i see the TSN eating pellets. but he is still hesitant. he waits till the jardini chews them out a little and spit them out before he goes and attacks it. hopefully he will eat more i think he eats about 4 pellets a night only and he is about 9" should he be eating more or is this normal?

My 7" rtc eats about 5 pellets and 2 or 3 small bits of either krill or haddock each night if that gives you some perspective.

Thanks guys!! my TSn is finally eating. i drop about 8-10 pellets in at once and he goes hunting for them... was s tuff process but it is well worth it.
