so i need to convert my tank (but specifically my TSN) onto pellets
the last time i tried to "starve" him into eating them he took out a small aro instead ...
this time, he shouldn't be able to eat anything in my tank, he is about 12-13" now, and getting nice and fat, but i dont think he could fit my pbass or CK in his mouth. they are about 8-10" themselves and all 3 very tall ...

none the less, i really dont want to lose any of my other fish in the process.
should i section off part of the tank? should i move him to his own tank?
and how can i keep the other fish from eating the food before he gets to it? my pleco, irwini, and CK also eat off the bottom

i know others have done it, and i know i should have done this a long time ago, so any help would be appreciated

*heres my tank, everything is a little bigger now than when i listed them on that thread

you should go with a divider because you would not beleive what these fish can stomach. then try whatever you want

FYI - The new TSN I picked up would only eat scallops/shrimp etc from its previous owner but I got him eating 2 different kinds of Kensfish sinking pellets in roughly a week. I have 6" fish in there with him (he's ~13") and he never bothers them.

my tsn eats pellets, has done from 1st day i got him from lfs, they feed him only live bloodworm,,,,,,,,i have him,a huge gibbicep, common plec, senagal birchir,hoplo,3 greedy tinfoils,2silver sharks,2oscars, and they all get a fair crack at the whip, feed from three different vantage points

as for the one that eats shrimp ... do you hand feed him, or just let it sit on the bottom until he finds it?

You can also stuff pellets in the shrimp so he gets a taste of pellets.

SOOO good news ... i was saying how i throw pellets in there every night ...
well usually i don't seem him move at all, and he waits until all the lights in the room go out ...
well last night, while the TV was still on and the room was semi-lit, i noticed him swimming around the tank :) AND HE WAS EATING the hikari catfish pellets!!!

so now my question is, how do i know how much he needs to eat?
if i just put them in there, and they arent there the next morning, i dont think that would be a good indicator, because i think my pleco will eat them too ...

how much should he be eating at 13" ? he is fat, but not as fat as some i have seen at his size
