hello i have a tsn+rtc croos about six inches in with my oscars and green severum and he never took to artifical food at all he loves feeder gold fish and ghost shrimp i was wondering what others are feeding and how often

I am not sure about the TSNxRTC but I know that both Tiger Shovelnose and Red Tail Cats are not fussy eaters, once they settle in which usually is only a matter of hours, they will accept almost anything. What brand of artificial food have you tried? My TSN loves Hikari sinking carnivore pellets.

Have fed mine, shrimp, floating chiclid pellets, hot dogs, grapes, fish fillets from various fish, a small snake, squid, crab meat, beef heart, an egg, and live fish a long time ago. I try to stay away from live food, and my fish' taste buds seem to change from time to time as he will fast and I'll have to start him eating something like hotdogs before he'll eat again, but I don't reccomend it as a staple either. The bulk of his diet is shrimp, and fillets. Try to stay away from beef, pork, and poultry.

Get him off the live food, it will only cause problems. Mine eat carnivore pellets, market shrimp, fillets of fish, and occasionly I throw in a crayfish. When they were smaller they ate krill, and pellets.

ok thankyou ive tried shrimp pellets , sinking hikari cichlid gold , he doesnt evern flinch at them it like he doesnt care ive had him for 2 months now

Mine is 8-9" and loves market shrimp. I got him when he was only 3" a few months ago and he started eating it right away.

Main thing is to get the feeders out of the tank, and be patient. Give him a few days/weeks, and he'll come around. It's very rare that a hybrid will starve to death before starting a new food. I'd say blood worms, krill, and shrimp are your best bet to begin with as they are more natural foods, and after he starts that you can try to get him on pellets. Sometimes they can be picky if you have been feeding feeders. mainly because they are predators and will like to eat feeders more than anything even though it could potentially kill them.

I fed mine shrimp, fish fillets, hotdogs and sometimes bloodworms or brineshrimp..
