Im looking to buy a catfish (cuz they eat everything) for my future 220g tank. the thing is i love TSNs and RTCs
is there any species that is similar to these fish in looks and behaviour that would live happily ever after in a 220g tank?

something shovel nose like, i'd get a lima maybe, they can live forever in a 220, usually dont get much bigger then 2ft if it even hits that. biggest i've seen was around 18" or so.

:iagree: limas can get to 24" but its not the norm. the other choice would be a Zebra Shovelnose, (Tigrinus cat) they do get large but not at the speed and size of a TSN.:D

u can get the tsnxrtc hyrbrid. im not sure about the growth rate or whatever size. but if ur looking for something that looks liek both of them. that would be perfect.

but gets bigger then both the rtc and the tsn lol.

Yeah, for the TSN, you could get a Tigrinnis, and for the RTC, you could get either Leiarius marmoratus, or Perrunichthys perruno. The marmoratus gets about 12" larger than the perruno, but they look the same.

Their patterns are nothing alike, but behavior and shape is very close.

im gettin an rtc...

:headbang2

For looks I cannot think of any good alternatives for either fish. From what I know about RTCs and my experiances with bullhead cats I think it's safe to say they behave very much alike. Bullheads will eat anything, they exhibit a good deal of intelligence, they will surface feed, move around in daylight hours, are personable...good fish overall.
As for the TSN I agree with others that the LSN is probably the closest you can get at a small size.
