hey guys i notice my TSN is shedding on his head are? is there something wrong with him? did he get attacked? is my water too hot(82 degrees)? please let me know if this is normal. thanks i will try to get pics tonight

I've had mine TSN's for a year now and they don't shed. I'm guessing not normal. When my RTC eats too much it looks as if it shed but is just extra slime being produced due the stress of overeating. 82 is not too hot. How long has it been going on, and yeah some pics would help.

pics would help

I have seen them shed do to low PH and the over feeding both

i only feed once a day. hikari sinking carnivore pellets about 10 of those i will reduce the amount maybe 7 from now on. i will do a water change today as well. thanks for the input.

all fish will in a mater of speaking shed it is a way to get rid of anything that might be on there skin. what thay are shedding is not there skin like a snake or human do but thay are shedding there slim coat. it will be ok he just had an itch or something it is normal. try putting a little stress coat in your tank it will help him rebuild a new slim coat :) and keep an eye out for parasite sometimes but not all the time it is a safe gard thay fish will do if thay get an external parasite

Thank you. After u mentioned the ph thing I went and checked it after my water change and it was 6.2 or so. My tap is about 7 I have no idea how it dropped so much? Maybe I'm going through a mini cycle? Sort of a new tank because I cleaned my filter out completely along with my sponge but didn't touch the media. If I'm not mistaken ammonia makes the ph drop?

my ph stays around 6 with several different types of SA catfish. The SA varieties seem to like the lower ph. The ph will drop if you have snug fitting lids and don't allow for gas exchange.
