Sorry for the newb question but ive really never seen this before.

My 3" TSN is always in the same spot during the day (wedged between the filter and heater at the bottom), I never see him any where else when the lights are on.

But when the lights go out and I put an infrared light to view him, I see him swimming at the top, but he isnt gasping for breath or breathing fast. And when I have to turn the light back on, he darts back to his spot.

Is this normal? Usually when i have a fish at the top, I know something isnt rite.

yeah he is just hiding when the lights are on. what are the tankmates? is it possible someone is picking on him keeping him from swimming on the bottom at night?

His tank mates are guppies...
And he seems to be taking them out about 6 of them every nite, so I dont think those are giving him trouble.

He is just really shy still, and I have had him for over a week now. My other cats were eating massivore out of my hand after a week. I am yet to see him eat.

Its almost like he imitates the guppies when he's at the top.

I just got a small 2" dovii that started eating right after I put him in the tank.

At first I assumed he was eating too, but I know if he wanted to he could easily eat them all, which is what I want him to do.
I really need this guy to put on some size fast

But he literally does this all nite, yet I dont think hes eating during this cuz he is always as far away as possible from the guppies.

He likes doing this in front of the filter outflow too.

riverine fish like current :) see my reply in the other thread for advice. my goslinea sat in the current constantly as did my juruense
