Like the title states. I've got this guy in my 180 with my tsn cats and peacock bass and it swims in circles against the glass all day long. This cat be normal. It's eating good on cut tilapia. It used to hang out in an empty cave during the day but recently it's been doing this and I posted in the health forum that I also noticed a whitish film on its skin that hasn't gone away. image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

IIRC, we already spoke about the bulging eyes, right?

Overall, the swimming pattern is not unusual IME. Sometimes they do more of it, sometimes less, sometimes they do it most of the time, sometimes they don't do it at all. IDK why.

Sexually mature ones may do it in response to hormonal urges. Many of my large Pims do it. TSNs do it. RTCs never or almost never.

The whiteness behind / over its head looks unusual but IDK what to make of it if anything.

Yeah you briefly mentioned the eyes when I first posted this fish on the site. I do not remember exactly what you had said about it but they have remained consistant and unchanged. The white patch is getting more noticable and ive noticed it scratching against the sand and rocks periodically. Im going to try a treatment of polyguard as recommended on the health forum here and see what happens. Im pretty sure this fish is not mature as its only about 6 inches long. I think its got some growing to do yet. the rest of my other fish seem to be acting normal.

The flicking plus the whiteness and the bulging eyes taken together would worry me. If the fish has an excellent appetite, most of my worry would be relieved but not all.

Flicking usually means one of two things - ammonia in the water irritates the skin or parasites do. Much more rarely, it may be inadequate or unstable pH, water chemical composition, hardness, etc.

IDK what polygard is. If anything, I'd do a mild salt or Rich-Ich treatment (Malachite Green or Methylene Blue plus a safer form of formaldehyde) , which kills lots more parasites than just ich.
