I have a hybrid which untill he ate my silver aro was eating like a pig, mooched about the tank all times of day and night. Came to me when i was near the tank and hand fed.

Well he ate my aro a over a week ago and was fine for a day or so as he was digesting it in them 2 days, he was eating a day after he had digested it as normal and coming up for food, and out all times day or night.

Now in the last 5 days or so he hasnt come out of his cave at all during day the time, and isnt eating near as much as he did before he ate the aro.

Any ideas whats wrong with him?

Mine did this for about five days after having a HUGE meal - I was going away for a few days and couldn't feed the fish so I really stuffed them all. He's getting back on track now so just give your's time and he'll be begging for food again soon enough. :)

Thanks for the reply mate, i will keep an eye on him and see how he goes, he is feeeding a little so thats not a bad thing is it.

I thought a few more would have had this happen on here as there a lot of large catfish owners, we must be the only ones who this happens to mate.

I've read about the problem before, but my rtc has always been a picky little dude...:nilly:I have to actually work to get him to eat different types of fillets.

He will be fine, they are almost like snakes in the sense that they can have one large meal and be set for a week (mine were never like this, the little oinkers :p). But I have seen this before with larger fish, such as my Oscar when I had him, I would pork him up full and he would go a couple days without. Just feed him a few smaller meals a day, much better than one big one at night IMO. They also will grow faster this way...also IMO. Hope this helps. :)

He was out yesterday and coming for food again, noty as much as usualy but i feel better now, he had a few prawns and went back to his cave.
As i havnt seen him as much for the last week or so i can tell how much he has grown in that time, i would day he has gained a few inch easy and looks broader to, must be good food hey those silver arowana LOL

I got him a load of fish offcuts from the fish market which i will try him on in a week or so when he is abck to his usual pig feeding self, he has never been picky which i like, except for pellets, he can be picky with them.

Thanks for the help Diskboy and Dragonsong:)
