Order tsunami 350gallon tank (8ft x 3ft x 2ft) and was wondering- how many canisters would i need for this type of tank ?

Right for a start the amount of filtration aka your canister or sump is dependent on the stock relative to the aquarium if you were keeping 1 neon tetra in that size aquarium you would not need to filtrate it as if you have 3 bd rays.I would recommend using a sump on this size aquarium if you are stocking it with a heavy bio load. This is because it adds extra water volume to the aquarium aswell as this they are more customisable to your needs like modifiying the type of media like a wet dry or a k1 moving bed. This allows you to hold far more bacteria than most canisters. If you respond to this with more information I can guide you on the amount of canisters or as I would reccomend a sump.

completely agree it just depends on his stocking

Total of 13 cichlids/ catfishs - max out between 8-14inch

ok I would recommend if going the canister route 2 fx6s and pack them with extra media and add aerators to add oxygen and add extra filtration by putting sponge filters on the aerators I would recommend 2-4 of these

Gotcha. Is 13 total cichlids/catfishs pushing it for 350gallon 96inch×36inch×24inch ( 8-14inch cichlids/catfishs) ??

considering their size its alright but as they grow I would go with a sump to handle the bioload and slightly cut down but its not to bad I've seen worse overstocking

yeah that's cool make sure to take out some sponge as they come with an abundance of sponge which is not very useful so just replace it with some extra media and you will be good!!
