Well i got lucky. I herd my sump pump running dry two nights ago. went in to check it out and the tube on my fluval 404 had poped off the UV sterilizer it was going through. Judging from my empty sump and lower water level in the tank it was about 15 gal.I am lucky because it is a 180gal tank. If i would have not her the sound of the pump running dry it would have emptied my whole tank in 30 min. Ive had heaters and fans running in the room ever since. Its drying up but really scary.

Especially because the night before i ordered water alarm sensors to mount under the stand. I also knew that the 404s have problems with pressure. So i ordered a fx5 to replace it. The fx5 can the same day the accident happened. So i should be good in the future not that the equipment is in.

Anyone else want to share their flood story's? Possibly how you cleaned them up. My carpet is still soaked and i could use some suggestions.

The front and back panes cracked in multiple places and the bottom shattered, because it was tempered on my 210 gallon aquarium last July. All the water ran out of the bottom so fast the aquarium floated up and moved a couple inches on the stand. All the fish survived. The hardwood floors dried and look fine now. I was lucky, because the water rain through the floor instead of sitting on it. Replaced it with a 180 gallon acrylic aquarium, so hopefully nothing like that happens again.

Hate it when that happens. Filling my 285 was fun up til the tank burst. Thought I went surfing from that wave. The force was strong enough to move the 300 pound steel plate next to that tank. Most of the water blew out the hatchery door. The rest was squeegied or vac'd up. Wish I had pics of the 650 that blew out the bottom. Didn't lose any fish but, every sump was filled with the tanks fish til I could get a 450 and 300 cycled.

well my flood was a 92 bow front corner tank bursted. the whole bottom panel glass broke off and i have 100lbs of slica sand in it. fish i had an arowana, datnoid, 2 blood red parrots, FRT, 2 baby motoro, royal pleco, and an albino pleco..

couldn't find the pic where that tank lost the bottom panel glass when it moved into the back yard.. the living room had water and sand everywhere, but fun part was the heater gaurd melted and it caught on fire when the tank lost all the water. luckly my parents was home if not the house could of went down because of a heater gaurd.. dad had to run to the basement to turn off the main breaker to isolate the heater circuit.. talk about crazy.. now my tank have large PVC notched with holes as a heater gaurd.. luckily all fish survived and the crazy part was the royal pleco didn't die when it was out of water for 2 hours which it was stuck between the TV stand ledge..

Wow, thats crazy, iv smelt that plastic burning smell from the heater guard melting myself. Your lucky to have not lost your fish, im sure your parents werent to happy about the flood though, i hope that never happens to me, good luck, what caused it?

I have no idea what caused it.. but i think it wasn't sitting level second it was it has a overflow box in the back.. oh parents were too happy at all.. now i have an 180 in the basement with one 300w heater with PVC sleeve gaurd.. i have called up All Glass and they said they have never heard that happen before..
