I’m looking into getting the tuegelsi bichir for my 300 gallon in a few months but I’ve got a few questions. How big does the tuegelsi bichir get and what is their growth rate? Since they’re caught from the wild how should I introduce it to my main tank. I can put it in a quarantine tank but what do I need to kill the parasites that could’ve been on the bichir? Thanks.

A lot are captive bred. Qt is a good idea for any fish. General cure will take care of a lot of things. Patience and time are your friends. Watch and observe your teug for a month in qt if all looks good you can move it out of qt. At what size are you getting the teug? You may need a growout tank if its real small. Mine came in at about 2". There is a teug growth thread you can look at to see a few different ones and growth. Depending on your feeding and water quality you can expect 1" or more a month for the first 1.5 years. Most ive seen had about the same growth rate. I got mine in March and magpie magpie got hers I think a month before mine both from wetspot. I ended up with hers in my tank and hers was about an inch longer and a bit thicker.

This may or may not be relevent to you the two I had lost their minds at about 17" and started attacking things in my tank. Come to think of it both had a slight attitude growing up too. Just be mindful. I lost a ropefish a butterfly and a Congo tetra. And most of my other polys were uneasy to say the least. Tank has completely changed since their removal. Much more relaxed now. They killed a lj in the tank they went to two days after going to it. The lj was around 12" I think it was a lap. This may not be the case with all of them. Might be like the ornate stories some are fine others are jerks.

If they are wild caught a dose prazipro should be good enough and won’t hurt ur fish.

Went to the lfs and saw them there yesterday. Had a pleco sucking on them. I told the one guy I knew there and he moved it to a different tank. They are in with a large synodontis should be ok. Not a terrible price tag on them, $249 for the "pair" pretty sure they are both female. 149 each.

I wonder if they'd be less aggressive if they were separated. Seems like they took to ganging up?
I agree. But like you had said she was kinda aggressive when younger and so was Luci. Not sure. I hate to take this stance but I dont care either everyone is so much happier in the tank atm.
