I did my first female stripping yesterday and wanted to tumble my eggs. As my spawn yields were so low and probably mostly due to being eaten by my larger cichlids and bichirs in the community tank. This was my first experience and in believe I may have tumbled my eggs to hard. I dialled down the tumbler as best I could but I feel some are already damaged as they have changed shape having a rounded top with a cone shaped bottom and The cone portion is considerably darker than the rounded spot to where as the eggs are 2 toned. Am I right to thinking these eggs are no longer viable to hatch fry? I thought that my eggs needed t constantly move and that them spiralling the way they were was good til I did some video watching and forum hopping on the subject matter. In all I was able to strip 60-70 eggs between 2 of my females which is over 12-14 times the amount of fry I was getting by letting them hold to term in the tank. My females have held their eggs over a week n ahalf so I know it was optimal time to strip them.

It took me a little while to learn that I needed a gentle current in there and not much movement versus them bouncing like popcorn as my original thought was that they simipily needed to be moving constantly and not allow them to sit. This is both females first breeding so I knew I wasn't gonna get many fertile to begin with and thought it might be the best time to learn how to strip. And it's been annoying trying to fish the tiny free swimmers out of my 125 community tank with all the hungry big guys swimming around every corner.IMG_1958.JPG IMG_1959.JPG

I am coming in late.. but I am glad you waited them out and got fry. Congratulations!

image.jpg Thank you !! Here's an updated photo of the little guys.

Also the mother of these fry - Ice blue zebra - she's holding eggs again and today is the first day she's showing as yesterday night she fed.

Had some other good news but today woke up to a kick in gut as my only demasoni female was holding eggs since Saturday but my endlicheri ate her sometime between lastnight after I went to bed and 7 this morning.

Hey everyone !! Soooo no need to tumble this time around !!! My red zebra female was the first holding as always and I noticed on the 23rd of August and just finished stripping her. This was my largest batch yet !! I couldn't count past 20 but there are more than 20 fry for sure. Here are the pics !!!IMG_2276.JPG IMG_2277.JPG IMG_2278.JPG IMG_2279.JPG

Update ‍♂️ As of this morning I had a big accident. My albino senegalus got caught on the rim of the breeding net and it separated from the suction cups and all of my fry were gobbled up for breakfast. And aside from that trauma my senegalus wound up on the floor but luckily he wasn't out of the tank very long.
