I had a noisy impeller on an AC 110 since I run sand I know this can cause havoc with the impeller so I decided to coat the outside of the impeller with a coating of vasaline and packed the center and was amazed at how much difference it made!

BTW Is vaseline safe for fish? I think I am going to clean it out and use silicone grease

i wouldn't trust vaseline, but i don't know if its safe or not. it may quiet it down now but i think that whatever you use will end up just catching and holding a bunch of crap in it until it just siezes up.

:iagree:there's a reason manufacturers don't put lubrication into that area.
if your properllers making noise its probably been damaged so its off balance or the shaft if able to wobble. should check and make sure there's not a piece of rock or plastic bouncingaround in there, and also make sure the rubber end pieces are still there.

most important though, NO vaseline. its a petroleum based lubricant.

If you wouldn't use it on your shaft, don't use it on your filters.;)

bahhahhahahahaah ^
just change the impeller and be done with it. your intake is too low to sand prolly or your fish are just pricks. ;)
