Ive heard a rumor once or twice that there is a way to reactivate carbon by putting it in the oven or heating it up or something similar.

I heard it from one friend and now another.

Is it true? if so how should be done?

Carbon reactivation (or activation) requires 700 - 850 C (1292 - 1562 F) which is way beyond conventional home ovens. That is how activated carbon is made but not practical for the home user.

Agree with the above. The cost of home carbon reactivation (In something like a kiln) is much higher compared to buying replacement carbon.

Limiting bio-mass, performing frequent gravel-washes/water changes, and/or implementing a refugium to the system are good alternatives to frequent carbon replacement.

thanks for the info guys, now i can correct/inform others.
I dont really use carbon, except for taking meds out.
Might see what it does to my dirty turtle pond.
