Well, to stop the suction, you would need to pull the output above the water for a few seconds.
The only way to prevent water from getting onto your floor is either to set the output all the way up top, very near the surface so that in the event of loss of power, the suction will not overflow the sump.
Another way of doing it is to put a valve control ---but many warned that these valve control do get stuck sometimes and does not close---therefore they are not reliable at all!
My sump is 55 gallons and the output is near the top. I have shut off the power to see how far it goes up, and it's near the top, but not enough to overflow my sump. Good luck!
