ok my mom has decided to let me turn my basment into a fish room, So i need ideas. The basement is basically split in half so i am not sure if i can use both sides , but one side that i will probably use is 16 and a half feet by 12 and half feet. The floors are cement and there is a sink down there to. My mom plans on getting somebody to finish off the basement for her and i need ideas of what to do to to my basement, i want to turn into a fish room with racks and tanks and probably an air supply, as i will use sponge filters. i have never done this or thought about before so all ideas are welcome here are some pics of my basements

Search for "Indy DIY Guys". Between the work that I have done and the work that Mike has done. All the info you need should be there.

First you gotta clean up all that junk
Dont paint the floor.
Do figure out how many outlets you need then install 2x that many.
Put the chair in before the tanks or there wont be room for one, trust me on this one.
You should have a moisture barrier for that ceiling as well.

does the movie DELIVERANCE come to anyone elses mind??? Also, do your homework before you start a project of that magnitude, nothing worse than spending a ton of money on something thats not well thought out....good luck

I agree with that one. Also should make sure whoever finishes the basements makes sure outlets are GFI protected. Costs a little extra, but better than death.

Yeah, finishing a basement and setting up a fish room isn't cheap. LOL

couple coats of drylok on the walls and drylok also makes a nice epoxy paint for floors that holds up very well.... you could use a good paint to seal the rafters or just install a good air exchanger...more expensive up front but cheaper in the long run...

Did you get anywhere on this?
