Right now its a FOWLR with a few small "reef-safe" fish. (formerly was a SW predator tank). Filtered by a Eheim pro II, crap load of live rock (don't know how many pounds), CPR Protein skimmer, and a UV sterilizer. Lighting is two T5 10k bulbs and two actinics. Current is provided by two koralia pumps i honestly don't know the GPH. Water is R/O. I'd like to keep mostly LPS corals in this tank. What do I need to do, or is my tank already suitable? I know some of the information is vague, so apologies for that.

Another random question. When adding an LPS coral, for instance, frogspawn... well, how exactly do you add it? Just set it on the rock? I honestly have no idea.

Thanks!

Everything sounds good! There are just a couple things I can think of that might be a problem.

- You might not have enough light. LPS are good in that they dont require as much light as SPS, but they still need decent lighting. You need to know if your lights will be enough for the width, depth, and length of the tank to grow LPS. To me right now it sounds like you might be a little shy.

- I would get rid of the UV...no reason to have one in a reef, they just kill small things living in the tank that will actually feed corals.

Most LPS come in a "branching" form. So basically if you sucked in all the polyps of a frogspawn, it would look like a tree. Depending on how good your light penetration is, you can stick the "trunk" of the tree right into the sand, and let it live there. In your tank you might have to epoxy it higher up on the rock work for it to get enough light.
