Turnover?

Hello,

I know piranhas are messy fish, so due to the fact that I can only fit another 55 gallon I decided to combine two 55's I have in the same way you attach a sump, only the sump is just another tank.

That makes 110 gallons of water to dilute waste and I'd be turning the whole system over about 7 times an hour with HOB filters.

Do you think this will suffice as long as other maintenance is up to par?

Would I have to replace media more often?

How many piranhas?

Hopefully just 1 rhom (or other Serra). I'm just worried about when they get to be 6,7, and 8 inches.

Pothos is a cheap and easy way to lower nitrates, basically the plants roots sit in the water and it consumes the waste and it grows. Providing a cool tangle of roots and broad green leaves. Doesnt need added light or fertz

My 125 has 5 6-8" rbp with pothos I need only 1 wc every couple weeks to keep my nitrates under 35ppm

Why not make the 2nd 55g into a sump? Add lots of bio media, pothos, whatever you feel like. Just seems odd to have 2 55s running together like a sump, but with a fish in just one? Tons of HOB filters? Not how I would do it but that doesn't mean it can't work. Pics would help as I'm scratching my head as to what this looks like
