Went to pick up another glass for the top of my Aba tank and when I got back home after dinner, it was on the floor. Attempts at reviving it were futile. Really hurts my feelings. Sure did like it. The top was off for 2-3 hours and I even lowered the water level before I left home. It committed suicide after I came home with an Aimara Wolffish. Jealous I guess. Wouldn't have done anything different in hindsight. Aggravating.

I'm sorry for your loss, man. That's a tough way to learn your lesson. At least we will all learn from your experience :(

I bet 99% of fish deaths that are associated with me in the last 30 years were preventable. I just fail to listen to the little voice inside my head. Yesterday I heard that voice, and told it I'd be back in an hour and that nothing is gonna happen, get real. When I returned home, it got real. I was sick. Like bringing home a bad report card. That pit of the stomach, rotten feeling. Be aware, Aba knifefish jump. Even minus a caudal fin. I kinda laughed a little bit when my teenage daughter said that his dorsal fin was probably smoking under the water when he nailed the accelerator in his holeshot up towards the surface. She said that he probably had held his breath for a few seconds too long and was in a hurry to get topside for a 're-up. Lol!!! Funny, but it really sucks wind.

Damn man, I'm sorry. One of my grow out Polypterus jumped while I was at my girlfriend's grandmothers memorial service. He was my favorite in the tank :(

Bad day all around. I had everything blocked off, but I think one of my cats probably jumped up to swat at the tank and spooked him, because she was acting extremely guilty when I got home.

If your looking for another aba aba. Saw one on aquabid. It was 22-24 inches.

The guy I got my congicus from has an aba aba that looks amazing. He shipped to me for free. I can send you his email kno4te. Let me know.

My year old cat is the culprit. I cat proofed the tank by adding a background to the side she was able to get close to, and blocked off the tiny 2x1" square that it must have jumped from. :(

The other cats enjoy watching, but know that they are not to be messed with thanks to a spray bottle training regimen a few years ago. The kitten is a bloody hellion.

Tell him Ernest sent you. Really cool dude. He said his aba aba are in the 12-16" range right now.

I wish I could get one. No space or an additional tank to house one of those again but thanks for the info.
