I've wanted to try this for a while now but now that i finally have them i'm having second thoughts...They are all 2-2.5 inches. One of them is considerably larger than the rest (bottom fish in photo). They were solid gray in the LFS but this is how they've looked since i've put them in the tank. Should i risk it? i only have them in a 20 gal quarantine. The 135gal has:

1- 6" eclipse cat
1- 6" Oscar
1- 3.5" Coatzacoalcos (confirmed yesterday) at least
1- 3.5" RD/Midas
2- 3-3.5" cons
2- 6" Silverdollars
4- 1.5-2" buenos aires tetras (had 14 two months ago)

I doubt I'll be able to keep all 3 of the bigger cichlids permanently (i'm guessing the RD will be the most aggressive and eventually re-homed)

So, I know the rainbows can't be kept in the 20 gallon permanently so it might be an excuse to get a new tank...

Ya, it's always a possibility.
Has anyone on here tried them with larger cichlids? Turquoise rainbows grow to be substantially bigger (length and height) than BA's. They re body shape is like a squished silver dollar when full grown. The BAs were a buck a piece so it was worth a shot. These ones are $7 ea. The longer i wait i feel like theres less chance it will work.
