My male turquoise severum bred with my female gold severum. They just laid eggs today!:nilly: Does anyone know what the offspring will turn out to be like? will they be all gold or all turquoise or 50/50?

I would think that if the male has not "gold " in him then the young should all be like the father but if in the past he has "gold" in him then you might 50/50. Let us know what you do wind up with. And if you can send pics that would be great too.

I think the gold is a recessive trait. I have spawned greens and golds before and only came up with greens. I never breed any of those fish (greenxgold) to see if they would produce golds. But I think that the gold will only show up in a homozygous state (when both parents pass down the recessive gene).

This could all be different with turquoise sevs, but I think its the same.

:irked: The fry didnt make it....they all died.

But thanks for the info. That was gonna be my guess on them taking the turquoise traits. Hopefully if the breed again i can keep them alive.

The male is 8" and the female is almost 6". I will still try and get some pics posted though.
