Welcome to MFK! In my experience they are gentle giants who never bother anything unless they are bothered first. Oxydoras niger gets about 3' so get ready for a big tank!

mine is super nice. comes right up to me to eat or play. i've seen one at the local zoo that is about 3.5'-4'. what kind of info do you want really?

Hre is mine.....with his buddy. he is about 30" or so and growing steadily. Eats pellets, crawlers, shrimp just about anything I throw in the tank.

Very gentle and will take the food from my hand!! will let me pet him as well!!

They don't call it the Ripsaw cat for nuthin' Those things are very sharp.

They are not true scales. They are boney scutes. It's bone that is growing outside their skin. Just like what's on a plecostomus, just not as much, and much sharper.
