Turtle Enclosure...

So a friend has a ferret cage that she designed and her husband made for her. My question is can it be modified to a turtle enclosure, Say painted turtles, The top having the basking area and lights and food, the bottom being like an octagonal fish tank or something and a ramp between? It would be awhile before I could build it, just wondering out loud right now. Lol. Here's a pic:

It's possible just not gonna be cheap or easy. You would be better off building a fresh one

It was never my intention to use that specific cage, just the concept.

My question is would it be a reasonable set-up for fish and turtles if tiered like that and shaped similarly? And would the opening between the two levels need to be huge, or would a relatively small one do? I really have very little to go on but liked the look of this set-up.

And for the tank on the bottom, where can I go to find out how thick the glass would need to be and whether the bottom would need to be tempered and what not for that? (I am assuming the DIY section of the forum will have all the pointers I could ask for on actual construction of a custom tank.)

That's the kind of info I'm looking for...

I wondered where I should put it as I wanted both a fish tank and a turtle and this section came out on top as it seemed to me the tank would be the most labor intensive part and the part that required the most planning and this area gets the most traffic. I will admit that I don't have the best title for the thread but it was the best I had at the moment.

This section is fine, people just like to be pretend mods. Besides if it had to go anywhere else it should be in diy tanks. Seems like an awesome idea!

That could work, the only thing I would worry about is it being to top heavy and leaning the tank off its stand. Resulting in turtles running all of the place and fish flopping on the floor.

But this tank idea is simply bad@$$

I may just move this over to the DIY section to get a better idea of what I'd be undertaking.
