I am feeding my turtle "zoomed natural growth formula" and I read to feed a portion the size of turtle's head..but how many in EXACT? for a 6inch turtle..I give him around 30+ but that seems a little too much and 15pellets seems too little..

And also, the pellets float and he comes up to eat them but he eats them messy and alot come out of his mouth.. Is he spitting them out or is that just how they eat? Since he does finish all the pellets and seems to suck up some that fell to the bottom.

I have a baby turtle. I did some research on it, and their stupid. They eat till they explode or just spit em out. I limit him 3 meals a day with 4 sticks per serving. He is only about 3 inches big, but he will try to eat the whole container of food.

I feed my Musk Turtle as much food as he'll eat in 5 minutes, twice a day. But you shouldn't just feed your turtle pelets. A mixed diet is best. What kind of turtle is it?

Thanks. Yeah I just figured that out from another post.

Seeing how you have an adult turtle, you should really only feed him 2 or 3 times a week or they can become fat and over weight like Rosie O'Donald.

They have a mainly carnivorous diet of worms, aquatic insects, snails and crayfish. Sometimes they eat aquatic plants as well such as Duckweed. You should also feed your turtle crickets, insects, shrimp pellets, Reptimin sticks, frozen shrimp, freeze-dried shrimp, maybe a small amount of raw fish every now and then too. Make sure to remove any uneaten food as soon as possible. My musk turtle loves crickets that I throw in his tank. The movement of the swimming crickets really gets his attention fast!

lol. I feed him every 2days..i'll try to make it to maybe every 3 days..
It's just i don't want to starve him to death.and I don't want to make him obese to death..

I have minnows in with him right now..should get nightcrawlers next week..but i heard the worms at bait shops are fed **** so they have no nutritional value.. and I read you need to pull of the legs on crickets before feeding..why is that?

And I'll go buy those freeze-dried shrimp for oscars.

I give him sashimi too...but are saltwater fish bad for him? Should I only give him like farm raised trout.

And my tank is not going to get dirty from food since I feed him in a separate feeeding tub..I have a question though..I read that musk and mud turtles walk on the bottom but when he's in the tank he's either floating or on the submerged rock. And when I take him to the 12gallon tub that filled to the top, he sinks to the bottom and walks on the bottom. But when I move him back to the half-filled 125gallon. he swims up as fast as he could and breathes air.. I want him walking on the bottom..What's the problem?
