One you might consider is the spotted turtle (Clemmys guttata) the largest recorded was 5.4" along the shell but 4.5" is more common. They are attractive and long lived reaching a breeding age in 7-10 years and living at least 25 years. They require a basking area.

If you get one of these, make sure that it was captive born and breed. I beleive their numbers a declining in their wild habitats due to over collection and other reasons. Awsome turtles though. If I seen some around me, I would pick some up.

Some musk turtles stay real small for turtle standards as well.

i keep spotteds they are good easy to care for dont like deep water and they prefer softer water put some mosses in there to on opposite side of tank away from basking area mine love to sit on it they are expensive but most of the time you can go to kingsnake.com in the classifieds and find them avg 125$ a pop if you need anymore info just PM me ill be glad to help you out they are awsome turtles
