Hey guys
I need your help. I made a big mistake today! I was remodeling my turtle pond in the backyard and left my turtles in 5 gallon buckets (one per bucket). I forgot i left them in the in the sun instead of the shade and when i was ready to put them back I found out one died. And another acting not normal. This is my fault and i made a huge mistake! I'm trying to save the turtle that is not normal. It wasn't moving at first and all four limbs were alittle extended and not tucked in but the eyes were moving. When i touched the turtles limb it would move but when I put it back in the water it would just float and not moving and eyes are still ok. Can someone tell me what is wrong and how i can fix this? I take full responsibility in this mess up. Forgive me please.

I have seen snakes get over heated and appear to be completely dead before but once they returned to normal temps, they reanimated themselves and acted as if nothing was wrong. I don't know if this is possible with turtles but I think you should just give it some time (even the one you think is dead. Cool them back down and see what happens. If they are still acting strange tomorrow get the survivors to a vet.

I would'nt use cold water. cool them off slowly.

x2. Cold water could send them into shock and make the problem worse. room temp water with an area to sit in the shade and to get into the water. this should allow them to cool off at a safe rate and get back to normal.

what i would do with even the "dead one" is put them all at the edge of the pond if its ready so that their bodies are submerged but their heads out out the water and wet the heads a little.

Sorry but that is a very bad idea, if a turtle is inresponsive it needs to be kept out of the water and in this case in the shade at room temperature. It has no capacity to react and if for some reason water goes into is air pipe it will drown easily.
