millcity,ma.
as most of you know i picked up a baby ouichita map turtle and i know it needs a basking spot and uv so this is my questions
is a turtle tuff bulb good enough that i can only use that ??
and how much uv is needed ??
right now i have it in a ten gal tank (im upgrading to a 55 in a few days) i have a turtle dock with a 40w zoo med blue day bulb and a 10.0 zoomed uv with some live plants like a banana plant and some other plant that floats i had at work is this ok ??

Well for a basking bulb you can use a regular old house hold light bulb as long as it puts off enough heat (85-90 degrees is good)on the basking spot. Zoomed 10.0 is for desert reptiles I though? That might be extreme overkill for a baby turtle. I've always used the 5.0 bulb.

ok well its all i had i have to get something then i had those for beardeds so i figured it would be ok

I believe you could still use the 10.0 if you put it higher above the tank. Possibly 18-24 inches from the basking spot I think will be ok.

I would do 24 or higher personally. I thought 12 to 18 was full strength...
