Turtle Mating

Hey,
I am just wondering if anyone else has a turtle that tries to reproduce with driftwood or a container that is outside his tank?

My male RES tries to seduce things all the time. He also tries to push around my siphon when I do water changes haha

My mata masturbates sometimes. usually not on anything in particular, just starts going at it right in the middle of the tank.

but anytime I bring him to a female or a female to give, he tries to bite very aggressively, as in acts like she is food.

My male Greek Tortoises are always grabbing an inanimate object and trying to breed with it. They will mount it, open their mouths and vocalize, the whole works. My wife often comments on their moaning and grunting, it makes me feel a bit inadequate at times.

I will agree with that one.

Anything large in the tank he tries to mate with.
Anything large outside the tank he tries to mate with.
Its funny.

I felt bad for my yellow bellied slider the first time I introduced him to my pen. cooter because the cooter was all about trying to mate with him for a while. That was several years ago though, and they've been good roommates for quite a while now

I tried housing my male RES with my female RES, but no dice, so I don't think they will ever live together.

They are both turtles that were in far too small a tank from the start (was not me)

My male is 11 years old and only like 6 inches long (shell wise)

The female is 4 years old and only 4.5 inches long (shell wise)

OMG ok glad to see it's ok for them to try to mate with non turtle objects/creatures...I just saw my rescued boy doing the dance for the snail in his tank : o
