Not sure if this should be in the Pond section or here , please move if need be !.

Basicly i am wanting to make a pond for my Turtles ( 1 Yellow Bellied Slider and 2 Map Turtles ) .

Dont have the money to make a tank/ pond out of glass or Fiberglass , + buying a fiberglass pond ~ i cannt get one thats the right size and has enough space for them to get out to dry off and bask ,

so i thought of making one with liner ~ building a wooden frame the correct size and shape and putting pond liner in it to make a water section and a ramp leading upto a dry basking area !.

But would the Turtle rip or put holes in the liner with thier feet or mouth do you think ?

Thanks for your qiuck replies . :D

so as long as the liner is think enouugh and is a good quilty their wont put any hole , rips , Ect . in it . :D

Wow really happy now hopfully going to start making the frame work is week . :)

Like VF said, you should be fine. Get an EPDM rubber liner; PVC will break down in just a few years, while EPDM will last indefinitely. 45 mil/1 mm is the usual thickness used for ponds.

Dont forget were you life its chilly and in particular the yellow belly can have trobble coping with that. I recomend that you for now only keep them out in warmer days. How big are they?

Sorry it an indoor pond i am building so heating wont be a problem as they all will be indoor all year round .

i would of just gone for a larger tank for them all but i havn't got the money at the moment to get one so i thought the cheaper way would be building a pond .
