ok well this winter i want to start a turtle pond for my back porch i plan on keeping them in side for the winter and putting them out in the summer so my ??? is this do i need a filter if i do regular water changes im not really into turtles but once again you guys got me wanting one just like the pixie

Yeah, you'll want a filter. Large water changes get old real fast. How big do you want to go? I just picked up a pretty cheap Cascade 1500 Canister Filter for my musk turtles tub. I got it new for $107 bucks and it's rated for 200 gallons. You can also get good deals on pond filters now seeing how it's the end of the season. Or you could just make a filter.

just buy cheap filterbox or just make a DIY ,filters make the water visually clear

I got it from Tractor Supply a few years ago for $100 bucks, but since then I've seen them for cheaper. Google Rubbermaid 100 gallon stock tank. A few different sites come up and prices range form $79 to $119. It's also the end of the gardening season. You might be able to find one of those small, preform ponds for cheap.

Yes it has a drain plug along the one side near the bottom. Did you see that they make one in 300 gallons? They're about $200 bucks.
