I have a paroon shark, the bibliography says 75,2ºF 24ºC is the minimum temperature of the tolerance range. But, I dropped it up to 22ºC 71,6ºF, but my paroon shark are feeding without problem. The reason to drop my temperature is my soft shell turtle, Apalone ferox, at the moment, don't exist any negative interaction, but the problem is my paroon shark have a naked eye, just one. One time, my paroon shark had this problem when it rubbed with any ornament, but it recovered early. Could be a drop of inmunitary system?, if I increase the temperature the turtle could increase your metabolism and probably problems. What do you recommend me? Thanks a lot:chillpill:

wait...did you say you cool down your tank so the turtle is more inactive?

No, 71,6ºF is a good temperature for my turtle, instead for my paroon shark could be a less temperatura according to differents information sources, but my paroon shark eats normally.

If I were you I would research average lower range water temperatures of the chao phraya river. Which is the naturual habitat of the paroon.

As for the eye issue. If the the tank size is too small for the paroon, than it may be the cause of the eye injury due to the paroons often smashing themselves on the sides of the tank and decor since they can be very skittish and stressed in such situations.

I would imagine (although I'm not an expert) that the temps are close enough that the animals will be able to acclimate. I dont know what to tell you about the eye but it's common to keep temp a little lower to ease aggression issues. I tried it once and it definitely worked. You may be alright though at any temp. My turtle is fine with catfish but nips at any normal fish. He will leave larger fish alone mostly but even small pleco's are left untouched.
