Turtle species

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes there are two species which can live in a tank this size their full liife. A common musk turtle also known as stinkpot musk and razorback musk turtle. You can find common musk turtles for lowest ive seen $8 on Kingsnake.com and Razorback musks can be found for lowest ive seen $20 on kingsnake.com as well. The Common musk is your best bet as they are extremely easy to keep while razorbacks get slightly larger and have different requirements as well but not that extremely different.

Do musk turtle need a substrate? Also are they ok at room temperature? if its in the low 70's with a basking lamp. A out of state friend is setting up an enclosure and has been asking me questions.

striped mud turtles are a better looking version than a common and have the same growth, my friend had one in a 10 (which is slightly small) but he was healthy for 3 yrs and has him currently.
