Looking for advice, done it before with some other fish in the past, but is there any way of pairing some breed of aquatic turtle with an arowana (shes 13" long) and a Redtail (hes about 14" in length) without any repercussions? I do NOT want to harm any of the three in this, so Im asking if it is possible to keep them together...

its possible to keep turtles with aros. I am keeping 4 turtles with 2 26" silver aro and a 22" jardini, 18" CK, 22" RCK, 13" ID shark and 14" FL gar. i"ve kept the turtles with these guys for over 2 years already, and just recently upgraded my tank to a 220 gallon. No problems wat so ever. by the way the turtles i have with them are, red ear slider, chinese golden thread, white lipped mud, and a soft shell turtle.

Unless you can provide some kind of dock with a bask light, your only options are fully aquatic turtles, like the FRT. And there's always a chance that the turtle will take random chunks out of your fish. It's a risk.

Not to mention a big RTC might try to eat a turtle... might even try to eat the aro.

thanks for the imput guys... my girlfriend wanted to know cause she really wants a turtle for some reason and i dont want to risk the turtle nipping at or even worse killing my redtail or arowana...

It's not a turtle I would be worried about with this pair. I'd be stressed over that arowana being smaller than that redtail. I'd say its a matter of a small amount of time until that arowana is a taco dinner.

The aro is about double the size of the rtc. They wont be in the same tank forever, just for now until we either move out at the end of the year or when we get a custom tank built, whichever comes first.

There must be some mistake as these are the measurements you gave above.

sorry about that... my girlfriend typed that out about the aro being double the size... they are both relativly the same size... im honestly not worried about the rtc eating the aro thats why when we got the arowana I made sure it was bigger if not the same size as the catfish... and yes i have heard the horror stories and pray that i keep my redtail fed enough that he doesnt even see the arowana as food... the redtail is not on live food what so ever which makes me feel more comfortable...

You'll find it depends on the turtle. My FRT will go after any fish he's in with, regardless of size. Cichlids are the only thing he can't catch.
