Hi guy's last month I bought two yellow belly turtles and they have a grown a bit, maybe a couple of inches across? Anyway I have 2 plec's at a few inches also in and have seen them trying to snap at my plec's now I know everyone say's keep them apart but will they be okay together or will I need another tank for the pair? Cheers guy's

If you do not seperate them, your fish will be eaten.

Knowing a turtles daytime routine will help you understand this. Most aquatic turtles (Maps, painters, snappers, etc) walk around on the bottom of their pond/lake with their head down looking for anything to eat (snails, muscles, bug larvae) They do this when they arn't basking. Since plecos don't move much, they make easy targets for turtles.

Actualy Ive even herd of plecos chewing turt shell and leaving a bad bruise, keep them apart.

I put a 5 inche pleco in my turtle tank last year when my snapper was maybe 2-3 inches and the pleco lost the battle. It was just a big meal for a little turtle. Separate them.

Isn't that only on softshells?
I can't see a plec damaging a hardshell, unless it was a HUGE panique or something.
