How much do these turtles usually cost? I know that they are brackish water turtles, but I want to know how much would a 9 inch female Diamond Back Terrapin would cost? Thanks MFKERS! lol.

a captive bred female at that size could be pretty pricey, upwards of $150 depending on how nicely marked, what sub-species, etc. Wild caught large females are sometimes available for considerably less, but are extremely difficult to acclimate to captivity. They're highly prone to fungal/bacterial infections, difficult to get eating, and often have a high parasite load, so veterinary care should be factored into the price before getting a wild caught. If they can even be legally obtained, which is questionable.

diamond backs arent that hard to care for. i keep mine in non brackish water and he is doing great, doubled or trippled in size in the last 6 months. i love these turtles, they're so nice looking

Thanks guys. I just bought her last week for a really good deal, and I honestly don't know which locality. She does however have shell rot I believe, which I will be treating, and I will be making her new home a brackish water set up as I'm sure that it would be a better home environment for the turtle. Thanks guys.

My favorite of the turtles, the ones that I have had the pleasure of keeping were all very active and looked forward to interacting with their keepers as opposed to other turtles who would try to swim away when one nears their tank.I got mine from breeders who raised them in fresh water and they did fine kept that way.Shrimp is a big part of their natural diet so try giving her some raw shrimp from the market.

Oh yeah, the best prices I've seen were at reptile shows where they were going for fifty dollars for silver dollar coin sized babies.
