I am wondering if any of the aussie turtles can be kept with fish i know the pignose can be kept fine with larger fish but what about some of the shortneck or saw shells any information would be great.

Shortnecks such as Murray Rivers, Sawshells, Kreffts are generally scavengers and won't attach fish unless they are dead, dying. Long necks like ELN, Expansa are expert hunters and will attack fish. I had a school of Rainbow fish and a Tandanus in with 4 Brisbane Rivers and 2 Mary Rivers and they were never bothered.

All I've ever read from keepers is to keep them fed but if something does happen don't be too surprised.
It's pretty much down to the specimen, but not always.

All I can think of would be to make sure said fish are a few times bigger than the turtle.

I've got a bunch of adult E-Subs and a small Orlitia in with a bunch of 6-10" Koi, and I've never had any problems. I also have Gambusia in all of my setups with other Turtles, and they never seem to be touched.........

thanks for the info guys i have done alot of research this week and have been informed my best bet is one of the shortnecks i have an Emydura macquarii macquarii (murry river short neck) in the post i have set up a small turtle tank(quarrantine and as he is only 6cm i will make sure he is fighting fit before he goes in for a swim with the fish) and will be ready to remove him quickly from the main tank .
I am relying on the size of the tank and the speed of his tank mates.
I have nothing big enough to swallow him yet and vice versa so hope it goes well i will post a video when he gets here.

cheers theo yep the only long neck i have had first hand dealings with were expert hunters alright!
It used to climb the walls in the tank when anyone would enter the room and bulldog onto your hand if you put it in the tank.So fish were out of the question with that guy.
i am setting up a 6x2x2 for him. any other info you have about feeding ect or photos would be great.
