Are there any turtles that can peacefully live with large cichlids? I can provide a small basking area but the more aquatic the better. Im willing to spend a little bit of money if I can find a suitable turtle. Tank is a 6x2x2.5

I have red eared sliders with oscars(10 inch). Best to get them little because big ones can't be trained to not eat fish, if you raise little ones with fish.. they wont attack them

i've had a small common snapping turtle and a small western painted in my 150g with cichlids plecos and piranha and neither touched the fish. they were both under 3" when i put them in, and pushing 7" when they left. and they were at seperate times before they went into the pond.

As soon as my new tank is set up, I will try mixing a group of Giant Mexican Musk turtles with some CA Cichlids. Others have done it before, so I am optomistic of the outcome.

I wanted musk but have gotten mixed info about the depth of water. Some say fully aquatic and depth doesnt matter, others say basking area with low water so they can breathe from the bottom, so i just dont know who to listen to. Any other options out there?

Taking a big risk putting snappers in with fish regardless of size.

Mine WILL bask if they are provided with a basking spot, but I took it away because it really defaces thier shell when it dires up frequently from excessive basking.. Deep water is fine for Giant Musk, they can be fully aquatic. I know of some that live happily in 48" tall tanks, mine will be 36" tall and filled to the top.
