hello fellas im new to this section of the forum always stuck to the fish. but i had a couple of questions on turtles like specificaly what kind of turtles would be good for my daughters i got a 55 gallon tank set up for them with water in it what else would i need. i have never fooled with turtles so i have no clue what they need

www.turtleshack.com has some really good prices and a great variety of turtles. Red eared sliders have the potential to get huge and will eventually need tanks bigger than a 55, however you can house 2 baby res in there for a couple of years. If i were you I'd get musk turtles. They stay small and are very friendly, with lots of personality. You can house 2 musks for life in a 55.
Also in the tank you should have a basking area and some UV lighting for the turtles. Also, a heater might be reasonable. Other than its turtle food and your good to go.

Good God please do your research..........Turtle Shack is about the worst place you could buy from.......It's the reserrection of the Turtle Store, or shop, or whatever it was, who finally got busted for selling Turtles that were Illegal to send to New York......Not to mention the MANY un-satisified customers that were left in its wake.........I could go on and on........Buy from someone reputable, and don't buy a Red Eared Slider.......If you're going to go with a Turtle, choose something consequential, that way, if/when you get tired of it, it actually has value............
