210 gallon, 2 hystrix, 8 geo redheads and 3 surinamensis. Stick with the twin fx5's or 45 gallon sump? Would a 45 long with twin overflows and dual returns from a marineland 5500 be enough to even filter the tank properly? I have an idea in my head to build a sump that has mechanical filtration into a moving media bio chamber to a wet dry trickle. Loads of bio filter and filter pads placed thought the sump. Also thought of running a hob sort of refuge I saw at the Los ran by air pumps and fill them with plants?

I find most cannister filter to be underpowered for rays I would go with a well designed sump for sure.

Plus with the sump you can install a drip system

I would go with 8-10x turnover after headloss for the pump so probably some where between 2k and 2.5k gph

I believe K1 or other media has information on how much you should have according to how much you will feed.

I would personally go as big as possible even if that is more than you need. You are adding volume to the tank for every gallon of sump you can fit. For instance my 300 gallon has a half full 100 gallon sump and I also have two 40 gallon breeders plumbed into the same system giving me a water volume of around 430 gallons making it much easier to keep things where they need to be.
