I know why there is a hype about Bacon, it's delicious and manly :)
But since I don't live in America, I haven't ever tasted a twinkie..
Now I just saw a film called Zombieland, and a guy in the film loves Twinkies. I also saw the dismay on MFK when someone posted that they stopped producing twinkies. Even on SnakeBytes they mentioned them.

1. What exactly is a twinkie?
2. Why is there such a hype about them?
3. Are they that good in your opinion?

1. a twinkie is is a roll of basically cake deep fried with a cream filling, with tons of unhealthy preservatives... like a donut

2. they are all hyped up because the some stereotypical obese 'mericans love them and apparently enjoy them.

3. no they are gross

I see, thanks. Haha I guess it really has something to do with sterotypes.

1) A twinkie was a yellow or vanilla sponge cake filled with vanilla pastry cream. It was made and manufactered by Hostess until they closed in 2012 and twinkes along with all the Hostess products were discountined.
2.) The hype was because they were readily available and cheap, and quite good to somepeople.
3.) To me they were ok. Nothing I'd go crazy for, me being a chef can make them homemade.

It has more to do with them being around since 1930... Like a Hershey's bar... Might not be the best thing ever but if you grew up in 'merica there's probably some nostalgia there. I've found just about every country has some weird brand/product that's been around forever and that most "foreigners" don't really understand the appeal of.

In my area I heard stories of people following the hostess trucks down the road as they made deliveries to buy the last twinkies. I thought that was kinda extreme but to each their own.
