An update on the 10, turned 9, turned 8 now (not addressed in this video).

The strangest case of a small pbass, who had done very well from 1.5" to 4" and then began behaving very oddly as if it lost its eyesight, while the eyes seem normal to a superficial glance:

From YT:

domturiace670: Asia is mass producing them with hormones . The new non wild caught ones never get big and have genetic defects . Sad I tried fritz multiple times a d didn't do anything .it's too light dosage to work.

Fish-Story: Interesting. Is that why prices have come down so obviously? Never get big? Are you saying they max out at smaller sizes vs what's expected on the basis of the wild kin? Yes, I note some body asymmetry, slight bend in some, and as stated a higher than normal portion of early deaths, feeding but not growing, withering, suddenly stopping feeding and dying. Is that why? ... So many peers praise Fritz. They give the amounts of the drugs right on the label. I neglected calculating if they were the same as the known therapeutic dosages. Seemed adequate but need to calculate. ... The little pbass seems to have lost all senses. It doesn't seem to feel taste and smell judging from its inability to figure out where feed is. It might still feel movement of tank mates in the water as it runs away if chased. It's bizarre. Like it's brain dead.

It seems half of the fish in the hobby are farmed and spawned with hormones. Are you of opinion that they are ALL sub par vs the wild kin?

miketuttle1138: Very interesting. I had the same exact issue with a “blackberry” peacock bass I got from Preditory Fins. It did great for the first couple months but as he grew he lost his vision, wouldn’t eat, bumped into the glass and decorations. Seemed brain dead as you explained. It was sad. I did multiple treatments with medication and nothing helped l, unfortunately. I lost him :(

Fish-Story: Thank you. This is helpful and good to compare notes and to note similarity. Ours behaves very similar to yours, perhaps except ours tries to feed but has no idea where feed is, even when it's under its nose. It seems to have lost all senses, not only vision. It doesn't seem to feel taste and smell judging from its inability to figure out where feed is. Except maybe it might still feel movement of tank mates in the water as it runs away if chased. It doesn't know where furniture and walls are. It's bizarre. Like it's brain dead.
